Dale Ray King of Cleburne, Texas, passed from Earth to Heaven on January 6, 2021, at the age of 78 years old. Dale was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Lyle and Marie King on June 16, 1942.
He attended Birdville High School in Fort Worth, Texas and University of Texas at Arlington after the family was transferred to North Richland Hills, Texas. He worked as a Foreman and Industrial Engineer at General Dynamics – Lockheed Martin Corporation in Fort Worth, Texas. He worked there for over 35 years.
King was a true Cold Warrior, enlisting in the US Army in 1965, and receiving his commission in 1967 as an Air Defense Missile Unit Commander. As such, he led two batteries of the 1st Battalion, 67th Artillery Regiment on our front lines in Germany, before his honorable discharge in 1969.
Upon returning to Texas he married Marilyn F. Bell, also of Cleburne, Texas on December 26, 1969. He was a longtime member of Field Street Baptist Church where served as a Deacon, Adult Sunday School teacher and was a chairman and member of various committees and other church positions.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn F. King and three daughters Kristen Stockstill and husband Scot of Granbury, Texas. Ashley N. King of Cleburne, TX and Courtney D. Burnett and husband Jon Burnett of Honolulu, HI. He is also survived by grandchildren, Brittany Giles of Stephenville, TX, Haley Giles of Corpus Christi, Texas, Jacob Stockstill and Zakary Stockstill both of Cedar Park, Texas, Elizabeth Burnett, Katherine Burnett and Gavin Burnett of Honolulu, HI. He is also survived by his brother Daryl King and wife Sue of North Richland Hills, Texas, sister Tracy Bridges and husband Gerald of Dallas, Texas, sister Lois Faulk of Cleburne, Texas, sister-in-law Hazel R. Bell of Cleburne, Texas and sister-in-law Virginia Ann Smith of Shelbyville, Indiana. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be an open visitation on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 9:00 a.m. – 5:00p.m. at Crosier – Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home. There will be a celebration of life at a later time.
