Services for Daniel Joe Wright, 71, of Covington, will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Rev. Kerry Horn and Rev. Darrel Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in Covington Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Monroe, Jim Maxfield, Wayne Giese, Bill Deberry, Sr., Adrian Handley and Percy Parsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Ramsey and all Texas Funeral Directors and Associates.
Daniel Joe Wright, 71, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed awayMonday, January 1, 2007 at a local hospital following a brief battle with cancer. Dan was born August 23, 1935, in Tucumcari, New Mexico, and was a resident of Covington, Texas for twenty-five years.
Dan was a licensed mortician for the State of Texas since the early 1960's, and for 25 years served as an Inspector for the Texas Funeral Commission. After his retirement, he joined Tarrant County Mortician Services as Public Relations Director. He also was President of the Covington ISD School Board and a past member of the Covington Water Board. He was currently serving as Secretary Treasurer of the West Texas Funeral Directors Association and also was President Elect of the Panhandle Funeral DirectorsAssociation. Additionally, he was a Board Member of Southeast Funeral Directors Association, and served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Funeral Directors Association, and various committees. He was a member of the Board of Directors of GAMS, a member and past President of the Sales Club, and a member of the Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association, In 2002, he was honored as Sales Supplier of the Years by the Texas Funeral Directors Association.
Dan is survived by his wife, Gail; his mother-in-law, Mrs. W.W. Baker (Granny); his sons, Mark Wright and wife, Pam, Chris Wright and wife, Betty, and Keith Wright and wife, Jane; his sister, Virginia Reeves and her husband, Wayne; his sister-in-law, Betty Wright; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Wright, his mother, Loren Dosier Wright, and his brother, Jay Don Wright.
