Darla was born in Cleburne, January 24, 1943 to Nina (Haynes) and Thomas Ray Shaw. She attended Cleburne schools and graduated from Cleburne High School. She married the love of her life, John D. Johnson on June 10, 1961 in Ft. Worth. Darla and John D. are members of Bono Baptist Church, where she has served as Childrens Minister for the last 12 plus years.
Darlas passion was children and wanted what was best for them. She worked in PTA for over 30 years, serving at the local and district levels. She directed the first Safety Town for pre-schoolers in Cleburne. Darla taught many workshops and was always campaigning for people to join this organization. She also served on the Cleburne Parks Board in the 1980s. Another of her loves was Cub Scouts. She served as Den Mother and on the District Roundtable. Darla helped plan and organize the first Cub Scout Day Camp for Longhorn Council.
Darla worked for Cleburne ISD and retired with 23 years of service. She worked at Irving, Adams, JN Long and Gerard. The last seven years was spent in the CISD Resource Niche. Although she loved the Niche, she missed the children at the elementary level. Darla was awarded the Cleburne CISD Paraprofessional of the Year award in 1993.
Darla has served her Lord and Savior most of her life. She grew up in Sunbeams, GAs, YWAs and always helped with the younger classes. As a young lady, she became a part of WMU at church and served in all facets of it. Mission work was a love of hers. She has worked in Vacation Bible School for 40 years as a helper, teacher and Director.
Darla was happiest when she was with her family, and doted on her grandchildren, the pride of her life, Brittany Johnson Taylor and husband Dustin, Remington Johnson-Mayo, Jacob Kennedy, Kendall Kennedy, Texas Mayo and Sydney Mayo; and great grandchildren, Kenzie and Cash Taylor. She has left a void in our lives, but has left behind some wonderful memories for us, her family, and all her friends.
Among those who are waiting in heaven for Darla are her parents, Ray and Nina Shaw; her son, Jimmy Curtis Johnson; nephew, Don Todd Case and mother-in-law, Iva Johnson Brand.

Johnson; daughter, Shari Kennedy and husband Jeff of Bedford; daughter-in-law, Tammy Johnson Mayo and husband Gene of Burleson; sister, Donna Killingsworth and husband Steve of Stockton, Missouri; niece, Holli Ragon, husband Joe and family Hunter, Jarred and wife Brittany, Emma and Anna of Joshua; nephew, David Case, wife Linda and family Lauren and husband Isaiah and Justin of Overton Park, Kansas and many, many cherished friends.
