Private services for Darrell Sweeney, 61, of Cleburne, will be held at a later date.
Darrell Sweeney passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, in Cleburne. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 29, 1961. He was of the Baptist faith and would tell you not to call him before 9:00 am, because he would be at church - in his home watching sermons in his later years. Darrell worked over 18 years as a Senior Crane Operator with Chaparral Steel in Midlothian and then another 11 years at Blattner Construction before retiring.
Many things can be said about Darrell, but most importantly that he loved beyond circumstances and actions of his own or others, through his thoughtfulness and giving nature. He was proud of his family and was happy to share that with others. In many aspects of life, he was a private man who was extremely structured. He was a huge fan of "to do lists". Darrell was also magnetic in many ways, always able to draw others into him, even in his less than best moments. To say he was charismatic, does not do him justice. He had a love of soccer and expressed his feelings through writing poetry. Darrell's strong will and independent streak will be missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Sweeney; mother, Cora Madelle Gilmore; and brother, Franklin Dale Sweeney.
Survivors include his daughters, April Marie Knight and Amy Dyanne McElroy and her husband, Nicholas; 6 grandchildren; sister, Cheryl Moore and her husband, Tom; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
