David Lassiter

David Jay Lassiter, 59, of Cleburne passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014. He was born on September 23, 1954 in Mineral Wells, Texas.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 2:30 at Friendship Baptist Church (4661 S Hwy 171- Old Hillsboro Hwy) to remember and honor Davids life. In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Diabetes Foundation, The Alzheimers Foundation, or The American Cancer Society in Davids name would be greatly appreciated.

Mr. Lassiter served in the United States Navy aboard the USS TICONDEROGA during the IRAQ-IRAN controversy and was an avid military buff. After retiring from the Navy , he worked as a security guard and as warehouse personnel at Walls Industries and General Dynamics. David was an avid reader and was writing his autobiography at the time of his death. During his 59 years, David brought much laughter and knowledge to those around him- he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his siblings: Rebecca Van Winkle (Les); Danial Lassiter (Jennifer); Rhonda Lassiter; and Christy Thacker (Danny); 13 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews; aunts, Gayle White (Curtis) and Nell Duvall; and uncle, Pat Duvall (Christine). He is preceded in death by his mother, Janie Lea (Duvall) Shrader; step-father, E.W. (Sonny) Shrader, Jr; brother, Michael Lassiter; and father, H.F. Lassiter.
