Funeral service for James David McMinn, 81, of Godley will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 22, 2023 in the Godley Methodist Church with Reverend Randy Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne with Scott Wilson, Lane Wilson, Todd Wilson, Mark Wilson, Ben Wilson, Chad Wilson, Garrett Wilson and Matthew Eastwood serving as pallbearers. There will be a time of visitation from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Friday, April 21, 2023 at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home.

David passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 in Cleburne. He was born April 15, 1942 in Gibson County, Tennessee to Charles Brooks and Willie Maude Simons McMinn. David married Llanea Lou Wilson on June 21, 1963 in Cleburne. David graduated from Cleburne High School with the Class of 1960 and after graduation he attended Tarleton State University. David retired as Executive Vice President from Global Group, Inc, in 2008 after working in the printing and reproduction field for 45 years. He began a life of leisure and the life he had always looked forward to on his 25-acre mini ranch near Godley. He loved the country life, especially raising a few head of cattle, plowing with his John Deere tractor, and growing fresh vegetables in his garden. He was a Christian man and believed in raising his family in a Christian home. David was very active in the Godley Methodist Church, where he served in many positions of service. After retiring he began visiting the nursing homes, the shut-ins and the sick in addition to church members who had for some reason become inactive. He was known by many as “Mr. Thursday” a name given to him because Thursday was his visiting day. David will be missed greatly by many. For all who knew and loved him, know that he left this earth to be greeted by God with the phrase, “Well done my good and faithful servant”.

David is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Llanea McMinn of Godley; two daughters, Paige Eastus of Cedar Park and Kristi Strey of Cleburne; son, Norman McMinn of Grandview; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; stepbrother, Harold Gilliam of Cleburne; three stepsisters, Tinky Harp of Granbury, Joyce Ganong of Godley and Charlotte Wilson of Godley; sister-in-law, Jan McMinn of Arlington and a host of nieces and nephews as well as many other family members and friends.

David is preceded in death by his parents (listed above); brother, Joe Donald McMinn; and two nephews, Steven McMinn and Kevin McMinn.
