David R. Reinhartsen was born on June 8, 1938, in Fort Wayne, IN. He went to be with our Lord peacefully in his home on October 9, 2021. Dave was the son of Ray & Marcella Reinhartsen. He had one sister Lois Anderson of Fairfield Bay, AR. He had two children, Scott Reinhartsen and Kaarin Reinhartsen Salisbury. Dave married the love of his life Gail on May 30, 1992. Dave was preceded in death by his parents Ray & Marcella Reinhartsen and his son Scott Reinhartsen. He is survived by his wife Gail Reinhartsen of Cleburne TX, daughter Kaarin R. Salisbury of Church Hill, MD, son-in-law, David Salisbury, stepson, Trey Foster and his fiancé Melinda Conn and stepdaughter Kiki Holmes. His grandchildren Amelia (Miles), Reyce and Elliot Salisbury, Hunter Foster, Corey Holmes and great grandson Leo Holmes
Dave did his undergraduate studies at The University of Wisconsin. He then went on to graduate from Purdue University with a PhDEE. He taught Electrical Engineering at Purdue, Delco Radio, University of Wisconsin and SMU. He became fluent in German language at age 50 and went to his native Germany to live for two years. He was the founder of the Antique Outboard Motor Club and loved the fellowship of this club. He loved collecting and had collections of Wood Carvings, Lava Lamps, Classical Music CD’s. Outboard Motors, Fans, Vintage Digital Cameras, Fortune Cookie Messages, Pressure (Coleman) Lanterns, obscure words, and other weird things. Anything he collected, he made sure that it was in working condition again. He sang with almost 20 choirs, choruses and glee clubs for over 65 years. He loved his time with the Brazos Chamber Orchestra. His voice was so masterful and his narrations of programs were inspiring.
Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Burleson TX, Sunday October 17th at 2 PM.
In Dave’s own words: “in lieu flowers, please send donations to any church or charity. Borrow flowers from another funeral, pick some up in the nearest cemetery or rent flowers if someone insists.”
