Delbert "Sleepy" Read

Visitation for Delbert “Sleepy” Read, 97 of Keene, will be from 4-6:00 P.M., Sunday, November 18, 2018 in the funeral home. Memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Keene. Pastor Ron Halverson Jr., Pastor Dennis Austin and Pastor Terry Darnell will officiate. Pallbearers will be Wayne Gillin, Dan Roberts, Dale Hainey, Yddo Ortis, Matthew Stubbs and Gary Heinrich. Honorary pallbearer will be Sheriff Bob Alford.

Sleepy passed away November 15, 2018 in Keene. He was born June 5, 1921 in Lufkin to Delbert William and Velma Ella McCoy Read. Sleepy was an artist for over 50 years.

He is survived by sons, Martin Read and wife Cheryl of Burleson and Stylle Read and wife Nancy of Keene; brothers Billy Mack Read and wife Patti of Miami Florida and John Read of Keene; sister Betty Ann Price of Keene; grandchildren Erica Stubbs and husband Matthew and Savanna Read; great grandchildren, Preston and Caleb and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sleepy was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ella Clarice Read and brother Wallace Clemon Read.
