The Memorial Service for Deola Langrum Lax, 98, of Grandview will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday,
March 1, 2023 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne. Pastor Billy Wright will officiate. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at the funeral home.
Deola passed away in her sleep, February 17, 2023, in Grandview. She was born February 8,
1925, in Lorena, Texas to Arthur and Harriett Moore Langrum both preceded her in death. Deola attended Lorena and Dallas area schools while moving to South San Francisco and San Mateo, California where she attended Don's Beauty School. Deola met and married her husband, Oscar Eugene Lax and married December 22, 1946, living in East Palo Alto and San Jose, California. She owned a beauty salon La Jesa Beauty Salon in San Jose, California, continued her love of hair styling in her home in Grandview, Texas. Early years she loved listening to all types of music; Classical, church music, playing the piano, singing in church choir also enjoyed bowling, and as a youth playing basketball. Deola, festive favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, she enjoyed hosting dinners and cooking and her doggies and cats. (Cocci, Lady Bird, Precious Jewel, Babe, Dusty, Bubi). She also loved and collected dolls and stuffed animals. She loved butterflies, feeding hummingbirds and bluebonnets. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend.
Preceded in death by husband, Oscar Eugene Lax of 50 years of marriage before his death, her only sister, (Sista) Hallie Marie Langrum Walker Husk, Brothers: Johnny Langrum, Alton (Doll) Langrum, Roosevelt (Myra) Langrum and Harvey (Evelyn) Langrum.
In 1975 Deola joined and attend Ephesus SDA Church of San Jose, California where she was an active member, over the Dorcus Society, Sabbath School Superintendent, Deaconess and choir member. After retirement in 1985 moving to Grandview, Texas she became a member of Emmanuel SDA Church of Cleburne, as a member of the Emmanuel SDA Church, Deola and husband assisted in helping to build a new church and served again as Sabbath School Superintendent, choir member and Deaconess and was an active member until her health went into declined.
Deola is survived by her daughter, Yvette (Faisal) Lax and a host of nephews, nieces, friends and Godchildren. Cecil, Eddie, Raye Ellen, Andre, Judy, Wilma Shines, Roxy Wolf, Arnell Langrum, Brenda Green and too many to name.
