Deward Bruce

Service for Deward L. Bruce, 74, of Keene will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 8, 2014 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Dr. Terry Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Keene Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Lively, Ronnie Unger, Donnie Unger, Brian Aycock, Kevin Kuhlman, and Scott Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathaniel Brown and Nathan Thetford.

Visitation will be from 4-6:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Deward L. Bruce passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014 in Keene. He was born July 31, 1940 in Alvarado to Lloyd Odell and Jewel Marie Edwards Bruce. He married Elizabeth Ann Beck on April 4, 1964 in Keene.

Mr. Bruce served his country in the United States Army and worked in heavy equipment sales until retirement. Being outdoors was a big part of his life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed traveling all over the world. His love for life and family will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Bruce; children, John Bruce, Audrey O’Neal and husband Ray, and David Bruce and wife Amy; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters, Brenda Daniel and Shirley Aycock; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Lively; and brothers, Bill, Robert, and Darwin Bruce.
