Service for Don Halbert Sr., 81, of Cleburne will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 12, 2015 in the Shepherds Valley Cowboy Church in Egan. The Reverend Russ Weaver will officiate. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. Pallbearers will be A.J. Phillips, Christopher Halbert, Marcus Ruffner, Taylor Phillips, Kyle Hensley, Kenny Long, Kevin Travitz, and Tanner Kirkham. Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Carrillo, Corey Hensley, Jason Hensley and Kevin Jones. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Don Halbert Sr. passed away Monday, March 9, 2015 in Ft. Worth. He was born January 8, 1934 in Morgan Mill to Joseph Dwight and Gladys Brady Mayfield Halbert. He married Marian Elaine Nichols on March 22, 1957 in Arlington.
Mr. Halbert served in the United States National Guard and was a master machinist for General Motors, retiring with 20 years of service. He was a member of the Shepherds Valley Cowboy Church.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marian Halbert of Cleburne; three children, Susan Elaine Halbert-Lester and husband Tony of Big Spring, Don Halbert Jr. and wife Sherrie and David Halbert and wife Noemi, all of Cleburne; eleven grandchildren, Allison Hensley and husband Corey, Taylor Phillips and wife Nichole, A.J. Phillips, Christopher Halbert and wife Emilee, Aleisha Jones and husband Kevin, Dana Travitz and husband Kevin, Tanner Kirkham and wife Amber, Kendra Kirkham, Christina Carrillo and husband Bo, Michelle Parsley, and Melissa Ross; 22 great grandchildren, Kyle, Alexis, Elijah, Anna, Olivia, Hailey, Zack, Zoey, Ranger, Brenner, Hunter Madison, Scout, Hunter Ray, Taylor, Kash, Trinidad (Bubba), Christian, Joey, Marcus, Genna, Gavin and Gabby; great-great grandchild, Bella; five nieces and nephews, Michelle Stricklen, Kenny Long and wife Kim, Paul Nichols and wife Sherrie, Pennie Estrada and husband Marty and Bobbie Marino and husband Justin; and numerous friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Long, Sr.; and sister, Susie Halbert.
