Don Phipps

Services for Walter Don Phipps, 79, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 25, 2013 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow at White Church Cemetery in Glen Rose. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Don was born November 14, 1933 in Eulogy, Texas to Laverne (Phipps) McKinney and James Walter Phipps. He married Noma Ford April 6, 1968. In his early years, he worked at Lone Star Gas Company then opened Don Phipps Used Cars which was still in operation upon his death. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a Master Mason and member of Cleburne Masonic Lodge No. 315. He raised cattle and grew hay on his farm alongside his uncle, Hill Wheatley, all his life. He was Sweetie to his wife, Hero to his kids, Paw Paw to his grandkids and Mentor to his brother and friends.

Survivors include: his wife, Noma Phipps, daughters Linda Lester and husband Gary, Donna Heller and husband Ed, Tionette Ford Blakely and son, Ronnie Ford; his grandchildren: Gary Don Lester, Dustin Hill Lester, Jayme Lester Taylor, Kansas Heller, Brandy Ford Stepp, James Ford and Johnathan Higgins; great grandchildren: Madyson Taylor, Jace and Reid Stepp and AJ and Hagen Ford, brother David McKinney and sisters Mary Plummer and Geneva Wooten.
