Graveside service for Donald “Bill” Axelson, Jr., 75, of Grandview will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 29, 2017 in the Grandview Cemetery. Chaplain Larry Schneider will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8:30 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home.

Donald “Bill” Axelson, Jr. passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017 in Grandview. He was born Oct. 23, 1941 in Arlington to Donald William, Sr. and Evie Viola Hooper Axelson. He married Susan Lynne Lester on Aug. 8, 2003 in Las Vegas, NV and she preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 2016.

Bill was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many. He was a very hard worker and worked for over 30+ years for the same company, refusing to quit until he was too ill to give his best. He enjoyed many things; such as watching his westerns (oh how he loved his old westerns), playing dominos and/or cards, and spending time with his friends and family. Family was important to Bill and he loved finding new relatives all over the country and taking trips to meet them. He was always there to lend a hand no matter what he had going on. He was outspoken and very passionate about his beliefs. He would go the extra mile to get things done. He was best known for his prankster personality. He loved a good hardy laugh, to joke around, goose you, and scare daylights out of you every chance he got. He may not be a super hero but he is a super hero to his loved ones. He was a fighter and fought a long battle with a brave face, not wanting anyone to know how badly he really felt. He is now another guardian angel for each one of us, and will continue to be there every time we need him. He will be remembered and missed dearly but we will always know he is up there saying, “I love you kid”.
Survivors include his children, Leslie Collier and Terry of Grandview, Jamie Clark of Nolanville, Tracie Muse and Ryan of Oklahoma City, OK and Tereasa Bajnath and husband Vishal of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Jordan Smotts and husband Jonathon, Brandon Allen and Jennifer, Keith Rinehart, Lynsie Lay and husband Bryan, Taylor Doss and husband Daniel, Cole Collier, and Rylie Garrett; great grandchildren, Caleb, Jacob, Nicole, Braden, Kinley, Cadence, Kaden, Joshua, Aubrey, Blair and Bailey; brother, Keith Axelson and wife Connie; sister-in-law, Mary Manry; brother-in-law, Roger Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Haley Collier; brothers, Jim Manry, Bob Axelson; and a sister, Barbara Moore.
