Donald Ray Burgess

Donald Ray Burgess, a beloved member of the Cleburne community, passed away on December 4, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on December 10, 1940, in Cleburne, Texas, Donald lived a life full of love, laughter and passion for the simple pleasures that life has to offer.

 Known for his warm spirit and cheerful demeanor, Donald found joy in the company of friends and family. He had a particular fondness for playing Bingo and listening to classic country music, especially the timeless tunes of George Jones. His love for gardening allowed him to nurture not only plants in his backyard but also relationships with those around him. Donald retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 40 years of dedicated service.

 Donald is survived by his loving daughter, Kelly Burgess, and son, Scott Burgess, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and joy. He was also a proud grandfather to his grandsons, Ryan Burgess, Kelvin Burgess, and Dillon Collier, who brought immense joy into his life. Donald's sister, Virginia Stepp, shares in the cherished memories of their childhood together.

 He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brenda Gail Burgess, and seven siblings, all of whom he held dear in his heart. Their memories remain a comforting presence in the lives of those he left behind.

 Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home, located at 512 N Ridgeway Dr, Cleburne, TX 76033. A funeral service will be held in his honor on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow in Bono Cemetery in Bono.

 Donald Ray Burgess will be remembered not only for his love of life but also for the light he brought to the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of compassion and joy will continue to resonate in the hearts of many.
