All are welcome for a visitation at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and a memorial graveside at Cleburne Memorial Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2020.
His life was well lived and he was well loved!
The Lord called him home in his 80th year in a peaceful manner Tuesday, April 7, 2020. This gentle, loving, caring and wonderful man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be supremely missed by his wife and best friend Mary Pipes (McGregory) and his children: Gene Pipes and his wife Donna and their children Brittany Pipes, Donnie Pipes (III) and Sheridan Palmer all of Joshua, TX; Keith Pipes and his wife Carol of Nashville, TN; and Sabrina Dillard and her husband Will and their children, Emma Dillard and Hayes Dillard of Krum, TX.
He had a long-standing relationship with God and was very blessed with his faith to his dying breath.
He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after working as the yard master in Cleburne for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Bea Pipes and his second wife, Liliane Pipes (Cearley).
Donnie enjoyed golf and loose slots and he wasn’t afraid to eat cold gravy. His regrets were few but include a tube float down the raging Guadalupe in the summer of ’86, throwing more than a few golf clubs in more than a few trees and using the wrong weapon to protect the family from a snake in the garage. Donnie will be forever remembered for his marvelous sense of humor, beautiful smile, gentle eyes, and caring heart. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us.
