Memorial service for Donald Edward Johnson, 80, of Covington, will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Reverend Roy Gee will officiate. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday February 23, 2019 prior to the service.
Donald Edward Johnson passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 in Covington. He was born February 8, 1939 in Osceola, Texas to J.G. and Laura Marie (Kirksey) Johnson. Donald married Shirley Fuller on December 29, 1958 in Covington. He was a supervisor for most of his career for KWS MFG and liked to buy, sell and trade livestock. In his retirement he learned to Garden, having many beautiful and bountiful harvest. He loved being a grandfather and great grandfather more than anything and they loved him dearly. Donald was a 50 year Mason and a veteran of the US Army. He coached girls softball and boys baseball and was a huge Texas Ranger and Dallas Cowboy fan. “He loved to make people laugh and always had a smile on his face”.
Donald is survived by his wife, Shirley Johnson of Covington; son, Kirk Johnson and wife Christie of Southlake, Texas; daughter, Cindy Johnson and partner Jennifer of Cleburne, Texas and sister, Lanette Morgan of Whitney, Texas; grandchildren, Mallory Cole and husband Brian, Blake Johnson, Meredith Johnson and Bonnie Johnson; great grandchild Kirkland Joseph Cole.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Glenda Gilley, Sandra Williams, Anita Johnson and brother, Wayne Johnson.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Scottish Rite Hospital or St. Jude Children Research Hospital
