Doris Mears

Graveside service for Doris Jean Mears, 82, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:30 A.M., Monday, November 6, 2023 in Rosehill Cemetery. Pastor Jackie Mears will officiate. Visitation will be 5-7:00 P.M., Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the funeral home.

Doris Jean passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023 in Cleburne. She was born May 21, 1941 in Cleburne to George Thomas and Dorothy Marie (Paris) Fisher. Doris Jean married Clyde Simpson Mears on December 1, 1958 in Cleburne. She kept the office going at Mears and Son Motor for over 50 years. She was a strong-willed lady and could face any obstacle thrown her way. Doris Jean enjoyed dancing with her husband, waltzing and two stepping at the Cleburne Senior Center and American Legion. She was also a good cook, known for her Thanksgiving dressing. Doris Jean was dedicated to her family and loved caring for them. She will be greatly missed.

Doris Jean is survived by her children, Ricky Paul Mears, Gina Mears Cross Taylor and husband, Patrick Taylor, and Chad Simpson Mears; sister, Billie Joyce Thomas; several nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Doris Jean is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Gary Fisher.
