Services for Doris LaJean Peters, 75, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2006 at College Heights Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Ely, Rev. Dan Burt and Mrs. Mary Burt will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Patrick Lawyer, Rex Pritchard, Steve McCoy, Bill McCoy, Bill Mason, Horace Gilliam, Mack Cook and Ed Wooley. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Cannon, Jim Gibson, Doug Robinson, Willie Williams, Louie Sanchez, Joe Walker, BobChildress, Bill Anderson and Doug Edwards.
Mrs. Peters passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2006 in Cleburne. She was born January 12, 1931 in Cleburne to Ernest W. and Minnie E. Bankston Hudspeth. She married Edward A. Peters on October 30, 1959 in Cleburne.
Mrs. Peters retired from Santa Fe Railroad after 41 years of service. She worked as secretary to the superintendent of the Cleburne Santa Fe Shops. Mrs. Peters was a member of College Heights Baptist Church where she was church accompanist for 50 years. She was a former member and officer of Zonta International and Literacy Volunteers of America.
Doris LaJean Peters is survived by her husband Ed Peters of Cleburne; daughter, Amy Elizabeth Lawyer and husband Patrick of Arlington; sister, E. Rae Hudspeth of Medford, Oregon; sister in law, Melba McCoy of Stephenville; nephews Steve McCoy, Bill McCoy, Gerald Perdue; and nieces, Kathi Schlientz, Valerie Ferguson, Annette Cannon and Debbie Crum.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to College Heights Baptist Church, 1006 Euclid St., Cleburne, Texas 76033 or Alpha-Omega Hospice in Ft. Worth, Texas.
