Celebration of life for Doris Nell Moore Simms, 86, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 15, 2020, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Reverend Brooks Monk and Reverend Charles Payne will officiate. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 P.M., Sunday, June 14, 2020 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Chase Simms, Cole Hodges, Jason Blanchard, Koy Killen, Justen Traweek and Robby Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryder Simms, Jack Blanchard and Heston Irons.
Doris Simms passed away, Wednesday, June 10, 2020 in Cleburne. She was born February 8, 1934 in Cleburne to Jessie and Mary Helen (Duke) Moore. Doris married Carl Thomas Simms on February 22, 1952 in Weatherford. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Doris was a vice president at 1st State Bank of Rio Vista with 35 years of service and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cleburne and had a true servant’s heart; serving whenever she could and always with a glad heart.
Doris is survived by her sons, Steve Simms and wife Pam of Cleburne and Barry Simms and wife Sherry of Cleburne; grandchildren, Chase Simms and wife Trish, Shemele Hodges and husband Cole, Shadie Killen and husband Koy, Kolbie Blanchard and husband Jason; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Kay Guest and husband Carl of Cleburne, Ronnie Moore and wife Belinda of Cleburne, Sheryl Hudzietz and husband Loyd of Cleburne, Terri Rejcek and husband Joe of Fort Worth and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Carl Thomas Simms. She will be missed beyond measure, but her legacy of love, family and faith will live on in each sweet memory of her. To have known her, was to love her.
