Dorothy Ellen Avants, 75, passed away Monday, September 8, 2008 in Keene.
She was born March 19, 1933 in Tulsa, OK to Jet Guy and Edna Earline Oswalt Black. She married Calvert Warnell Avants in 1967.
Mrs. Avants was a registered nurse. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Cleburne. She like country and western music and dancing.
Dorothy Avants is survived by her children, Rhonda Tatum, Jeannie Midgett, Cynthia Brown, David Burrow and Calvert Avants; step-daughters,Diane Ratliff and Darlene Smith; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvert Avants in 2005 and daughter, Julia Sudweeks.
