Dorothy Mae Newsome Hale, 90, of Cleburne, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 in Grandview. She was born to Clayton and Maudie Honea Newsome on May 14, 1932 in Morgan, Texas. Dorothy married Sam Hale in 1954 in Johnson County. They were married 60 years at the time of his death in 2014. Dorothy worked as a caregiver for the elderly and was of Christian faith. She believed in using whatever you had to make things work, such as her milk-crate cabinet. She enjoyed working in her garden and canning fruits and vegetables. Dorothy was a lover of the outdoors, especially camping while Sam fished. Dorothy’s love of her family and giving nature will be missed greatly by those closest to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton Newsome and Maudie Honea Newsome Stephens; husband, Sam Hale; daughter, Delores Williams; son, Tommy Joe Williams; and sisters, Margie Allen and Willie Mae Mears.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Willie and Melinda Fleece; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

There will be a private memorial service at a later date per her wishes.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for all the dedicated and loving care that the staff of Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center provided for Dorothy and the family throughout her years with them.
