Mrs. Jones passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011 in Cleburne. She was born to Zebulun Vance and Callie Frederick Tucker on June 7, 1919 in Greensboro, NC. She married Harold S. Jones on September 20, 1941 in Bennettsville, SC. Dorothy attended the First Baptist Church, Cleburne and was a member of Mary Martha Sunday school class and Evergreen. To say she was a homemaker does not give her justice. She took great pride in her home and tending to her family and their needs. She was the kind of mother that inspired others to be like her. She spent hours cooking and baking for those she loved. Dorothy was a free spirit and loved her Savior, Jesus Christ. She spent countless hours worshipping through music, prayer, and reading her Bible. She was a talented, self-taught pianist who often drew crowds to listen to her play. Dorothy loved everyone she met and they loved her from the minute they met her. Her loving spirit and giving nature will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Survivors include her sons, Steve Jones and his wife, Janie, and Dan Jones and his wife, Lillie; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Richard F. Tucker and Helen T. Johnson; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
