Services for Dorothy "Dottie" McGuire, 74, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 11, 2010 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Rev. Larry York will officiate. Committal will be at 2:00 P.M. in the Southland Memorial Park in Grand Prairie. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday.
A beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 7, 2010 after fighting a lung and heart disease. Dottie was born on March 25, 1936. She was raised and attended schools in Gainesville, TX. She married the love of her life, Frank, in 1952. They were married for over forty years. She enjoyed traveling and photography. She especially loved to photograph her family. She was a past member of the Grand Prairie Saddle Club of the National Association of Riding Clubs and Sheriffs Posse where she held the office of historian for many years. She retired from Safeway after twenty-two years. She relocated to Cleburne in 2000. She was employed with the CISD, Wheat School, in the cafeteria, until 2009. She was an avid lover of animals, especially her three dogs and a cat. She loved to play dominoes, especially forty-two, and many other card games. She enjoyed attending senior dances. She was an involved member of the Nolan River Road Baptist Church. Dottie is survived by one son, Bill McGuire and wife Vicky of Joshua, two daughters, Karla Pierce and husband Ray and Terrie Race and husband Kim, all of Cleburne, nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, sister Betty Lewis, brother in law James McGuire; sister in law, Lula Pearl Thompson and good friend, Jerry Elam.
