Dorothy Nix

Services for Dorothy “Nanny” Nix, 89, of Covington will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at Covington Church of Christ. Minister Barry Pritchard will officiate. Burial will follow in Derden Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jamie Nix, James Todd, Chris Hofsiss, Kaden Graves, Elan Hinson, and Johnny Todd. Honorary pallbearers will be David Johnson, Bobby Johnson, and David Fair. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 17, at the funeral home.

Dorothy Nix passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019, in Grandview, Texas. She was born July 20, 1930 to James Carl and Estelle (Walker) Boyd. She married James Loyd Nix in 1949 in Cleburne. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1984. She was a school cook.

“Nanny” loved to crochet and work in the garden. She raised lots of kids who she made do chores before they were rewarded. She was an avid baseball fan. Dorothy Nix was very active at Covington Church of Christ. In her home, NOT going to church was NOT an option.

Survivors include sons, Richard Nix and wife Priscilla, and Harlin Nix and wife Debbie; daughter, Kathy Fisher and husband Mike; son-in-law, Gary Jean; grandchildren, Tracey Hofsiss and husband Chris, Deidre Nix, Johnny Todd, Amanda Graves and husband Corey, Jared Nix, James Todd and wife Kristy, Jeremiah Nix, Jamie Nix and wife Amber, Carrie Warner and husband Joe, Lisa Lamaster, Hannah Jean; extended grandchildren, John Upton and wife Christy and Ladonna Upton and husband Bruce Burns; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Frances Anderson, and Emma Lou Conner; brother, William “Skeeter” Boyd and wife Mary; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded by her parents and daughter, Rebecca Jean and brothers, Bill Boyd, and Claude Boyd.
