Dorris Lyne

Service for Dorris Lyne, 96, of Rio Vista, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 15, 2017 in the First Baptist Church of Rio Vista. Pastor Paul Pinyan, Th.D., will officiate. Burial will follow in Rio Vista Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home.
Dorris Lyne passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in Rio Vista. She was born March 29, 1921 in Johnson County to Onan Jasper and Ona Belle Bullard VanZandt. She married Mervin Lyne on April 29, 1939 in Johnson County and he preceded her in death in 1983.
Mrs. Lyne was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt and a dear friend to many. She enjoyed cross-stitching, telling jokes and spending time with her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rio Vista.
Survivors include her children, Shelba Hudgins and husband James of Rio Vista, Merv Lyne and wife Diane of Salado, DeLa Juan Lyne of Rio Vista and Larry Lyne and wife Marlene of Fairgrove, MO; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Jerry Glenn; brother, O.J. VanZandt; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ernestine Roye; and a brother, George VanZandt.
