Douglas Peterson

Graveside services for Douglas McArthur Peterson, 70, of Goat Neck, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 1, 2014 in the Baker Lain Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday.

Mr. Peterson passed away in his home in Goat Neck on Saturday, June 28, 2014. He was born to Dewitt Talmadge and Rubye Dell Ince Peterson on March 16, 1944 in Cleburne. Doug was of the Baptist faith and worked as a sheet rocker with Calahan Drywall for a number of years. Doug was a longtime 32nd degree Mason with the Cleburne Masonic Lodge. He married Shirley Ann Cox in the summer of 1977 in Goat Neck. Doug was outgoing and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on old cars. In his younger years, he even drag raced. His strong will and awesome sense of humor will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and siblings, Talmadge, Joe, Dewitt, and Margaret Peterson.

Survivors include his children, Lisa Stacy and husband, Kevin, Doug Peterson and wife, Stephanie, and Daniel Peterson and wife, Darlyn; 4 grandchildren, Kevin, Destiny, Travis, and Dustin; siblings, Giles Peterson and Joy Horton; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
