A funeral service for Dr. Itamar Sabino DePaiva, 90, of Cleburne, will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church.
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of Itamar DePaiva. He was born in Avanhandava, São Paulo - Brazil. His parents were Rodolfo and Silvia Melo DePaiva. He was the eldest of 5 siblings.
He passed away at the age of 90 at Chisholm Trail Estates Senior Living on January 4th, 2025. Itamar lived to fulfill the dream that he had since he was a young man, to be a missionary, and served along with his wife, Ruth DePaiva, on four continents (North and South America, Africa, and Asia). Throughout his life, he worked as a pastor, pilot, professor, and church leader, and held a doctoral degree from Andrews University.
He was a man who deeply loved the Lord and his family, and led them on many adventures around the world. He was a husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He touched the lives of many people. He along with his wife had a house constantly full of people, meals, talking, socializing, and giving and receiving love and care.
His life was marked by forgiveness, service and a sense of adventure. He will be deeply missed. We hope for the imminent return of Jesus Christ and the glorious resurrection.
Itamar was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ruth; his nephew, Elton; his son, Ruimar DePaiva and wife, Margareth DePaiva; grandson, Larisson DePaiva; and son, Emerson DePaiva.
He is survived by his sons Elimar DePaiva and wife, Raquel DePaiva, Hernan DePaiva and husband, Samuel Smith; daughter-in-law, Silvia DePaiva; grandchildren, Melissa (DePaiva) Gibson and husband, Michael Gibson; Elizabeth DePaiva, Brian DePaiva, and Ramile DePaiva, and great-grandsons, Micah and Mason Gibson; sisters, Leila, Belkiss, Neide and brother Rodolfo; nephews, Kleber, Euler, Jose, Silvio, Bill, Gilmar, and Almir; nieces, Silvia, Silvana, Eliane, Erly, Myriam Daisy, Keli, Ellen, Rosinéia, and Gilda.
