Service for Dr. Rex Merrell Maddox, 89, of Grandview will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Grandview. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M., Monday, October 4, 2021 at the church.

Rex passed away October 1, 2021 in Grandview. He was born October 6, 1931 in Alvarado to James Merrell and Sue Edith Smith Maddox. Rex married Charlotte Hollimon on August 28, 1951 in Grandview. He attended Barnsville Elementary School and attended Alvarado High School where he played football. Rex was a distinguished student at Texas A&M where he graduated from Veterinary School in 1953. Rex was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce where he was base veterinarian at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany and Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He retired as Lieutenant Colonel. He had a veterinary clinic in Grandview from 1966 to present. He was also a director of FSIS for the USDA for 38 years. Rex was a member of First Baptist Church of Grandview and a deacon. He was past president of the Grandview School Board, past member of Grandview Industrial Foundation, and a past member of Grandview Masonic Lodge.

Rex is survived by his son, Monte Maddox of Grandview; daughter-in-law, Paige Goodman of Grandview and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rex is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charlotte; daughter, Shirley Feeley; son, Gary Maddox and sister, Martha Jean Jordan.
