Service for Dwain Carrey Martindale, 79, of Rio Vista will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 26, 2017 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Mr. Bobby Martindale will officiate. Burial will follow in Derden Cemetery off Farm Road 2488 halfway between Covington and Blum. Pallbearers will be Jacob Haynes, Bradley Haynes, Tyler Cantlon, Riley Martindale, Joe Cantlon and Jeff Haynes. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home.
Dwain Carrey Martindale passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Ledgestone Senior Living in Dripping Springs, Texas. He was born in Pilot Point, Texas to Bertha Robinson and Robert Thaddeus (RT) Martindale. Dwain lived most of his life in North Texas.
Dwain enlisted in the Navy in 1957 and graduated from boot camp as the company honorman. He went on to serve as a P5M Marlin navigator with Patrol Squadron 47 flying throughout the Pacific. During the 70s and 80s he was a home builder and later he owned and operated Empire Vending, a family business serving the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. He was an avid fisherman who was especially skilled at catching big catfish in Texas lakes and rivers. He enjoyed his grandkids, playing cards, growing his own vegetables and watching the Dallas Cowboys with family.
Dwain is survived by son, Doug Martindale, of Dripping Springs and three daughters: Kimberly Yetter, of Mansfield; Karin Cantlon, of Blanco and Lori Haynes, of Dripping Springs. He is also survived by his siblings: Sharan Acker of Seguin, Laverne Weaver of Dallas and Roy Lee Martindale of Granbury. He was preceded in death by his wife Eunice (Carter) Martindale and two sons, David Lee and Brian Carrey.
