Edgar McNeely

Edgar Sherwood McNeely, 70, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord, November 23, 2005.
Funeral: 10am, Monday, November 28, 2005 at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home. Burial: 3pm, Monday, at Stacy Cemetery, Stacy, Texas. Visitation: 6-8 pm, Sunday, at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home.
Ed was born on December 16th, 1934 in Doole, Texas. He joined the Airforce and learned to fly. He left the Airforce in 1964 to fly for American Airlines, where he retired as a Captain in 1994. He also flew with the 136th Airlift Wing, Texas Air National Guard, retiring as a Colonel in 1984. A Life-member of the AA Grey Eagles and 136th Airlift Wing Silver Eagles, Ed enjoyed heading up the Wild Turkey Goat Cookers for 25+ years at the World Champion Goat Cook-off in Brady, Texas. While they never won first place they sure had fun and memories. Ed also enjoyed deer hunting at The Yellow Wolf Ranch with his sons, family members, and his many friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the many doctors, nurses, friends, and Pat and the staff at HEB Pharmacy, and Charles and the staff of Home Town Medical in Cleburne for many years of compassionate care and giving they provided during his illness.
A note for our grandfather:
We lovingly called you Pop - for that name suited you well, you gave us so much love and fun that our hearts were overfilled; the memories you have given us will forever be in place, for now when we are having fun you are smiling down on us from a place of grace. The night you died we prayed for you and even rang bells; for we wanted to make sure God gave you a perfect set of wings. You have flown airplanes a big part of your life - now you can soar without layovers or delays. You can even soar where the eagles dare not go but where the angels are instead. For you see Pop, you have earned your final wings and now are good to go! Thank you for the many, many wonderful memories and for being the best POP ever!!
With love in our hearts forever,
Your Grandchildren
