Services for Edward L. Reed, 88, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 12, 2010 in the Crosier-Pearson-Cleburne Chapel with Rev. Mark Ely officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1:30 P.M. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Sunday. Memorials may be made to Community Hospice, 1208 West Henderson Street, Cleburne, TX 76033.
Mr. Reed passed away on Friday, July 9, 2010 in Cleburne. He was born to Clarence Edward and Mildred Virgil Swinney Reed on February 27, 1922 in Fort Worth. Edward served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Wanda Lee Teeter on June 7, 1942 in Yuma, Arizona. He worked as a pipe fitter and copper smith with Santa Fe Railroad for 37 years at the time of retirement 27 years ago. Edward and Wanda were charter members of College Heights Baptist Church. Edward was a member of the Cleburne Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Fort Worth Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed playing card games, dominoes and bingo. Edward spent time woodworking, specifically whittling and carving. His easy going nature and love for people will be missed greatly. Edward was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 4 brothers; and 1 sister.



Survivors include his daughter, Pam Mathis; son, Craig Reed and wife, Barbara; granddaughter, Holly Bauder and husband, Ken; great grandchildren. Beth and Kate; sister, Sonja Tribble and husband, J.C.; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
