Eldon Earl Collins, 97, of Cleburne, Texas, passed away on November 9, 2024. A graveside service will be held in his honor in Rosehill Cemetery on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with Chaplain Eddy Carrell officiating. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 15, 2024.
He was born on August 30, 1927, in Egan, Texas, Eldon was of the Baptist faith. He married Maudine Gregory on September 1, 1962, in Dennison, Texas. Eldon's legacy includes his proud service in the United States Army and a dedicated career as a Police Officer for the Cleburne Police Department, from January 1962 through September 1983. Following his retirement from law enforcement, he continued to contribute to his community through his work at Jeff England Motor Company. Eldon was passionate about the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing, and he took great pride in his gardening skills. He cherished the opportunity to travel, having visited Hawaii three times. Eldon will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, dedication to family, and commitment to his community.
He is survived by his children, Tommy Joe Millsap and his fiancée Ulene Hubbard, Brenda Benson, and June O’Neal; grandchildren, Christopher Lynn Millsap, Nettie Lei Millsap, Jessica Hall and her husband Chris, Jeremy O’Neal and his wife Shelly, Amy Soule and Jeremy, Jeffrey O’Neal and Courtney, and Lee Pierce; as well as 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, with a fourth expected soon.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma Earl and Bessie Lee (Young) Collins; his beloved wife, Maudine Collins; and one brother and one sister.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Grandview Nursing and Rehab for their compassionate care and support.
