Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, great-grandmother and much more, Elizabeth "Betty" Williams, 89, of Grandview, left us Tuesday morning and joined her husband, siblings and grandson to enjoy their promise of eternal life.
Betty Williams was born August 7, 1927 in Spencer, NY to Arthur and Ella Hollenbeck Whitmarsh. She married J. Burdette Williams on June 23, 1945 in Spencer, NY and he preceded her in death on December 15, 2013, after 68 years of marriage.
Mrs. Williams was a secretary for the New York State School District before retiring. A strong and devout Christian, she spent her life demonstrating I Corinthians 2:9 – “Neither eye has seen nor ear has heard what treasures await those who love Him.” Her last few years were spent in the tender care of Grandview Nursing Home and the devotion of her daughter-in-law, Sue Walker.
We are especially grateful to the amazing staff of Mission Hospice in her final days.
She is survived by her nephew, Claire, sister-in-law, Lorraine, daughter-in-law, Sue, grandchildren, Pam and Craig and many more family members. Though we all miss her immensely, we know that she is now joining an angelic choir with “How Great Thou Art.”
A memorial service will held at a later date.
