Elizabeth Diane Smelley, 67, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at her home in Godley, surrounded by her family.
A service followed by a visitation with family will be held on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Godley. Kyle Livingston and Reverend Ken Coleman will officiate. An open mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cleburne. Father Cornelius will say the mass. Burial will be in Godley Cemetery.
Elizabeth Diane Smelley was born Jan. 4, 1950 in Cleburne to Garland and Claudia Kyle. She married Ben Smelley on Aug. 30, 1968. Diane was a homemaker, dairyman’s wife, and worked in retail sales for a number of years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include her son, Donald Aaron Smelley of Godley; sisters, Alma Gordon and husband Clement, Bunny Ragland and husband Jim, Mary Montanez and husband Robert, Gayle Lilly and Linda Livingston; brothers, Charles Kyle and wife Ruby and Don Kyle; brother-in-law, Kenneth Dunson; special family members, Molly James and husband Pete, Dave Smelley and numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Carol Langston; a host of friends and the Godley community. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 47 years, Ben Smelley; son, Robert Shawn Smelley; and sister, Betty Dunson.
The family expresses special thanks to nieces, Marissa Abbott and Leeann Smelley, and caregiver, Da’Mona Jones, for their devoted and loving care.
