Elizabeth Mildred VanHekle passed away August 27, 2024. She was born in Chester Pennsylvania on October 9, 1942 to Edward and Eleanor McGinty.
Elizabeth married the love of her life and dance partner, Carl A. VanHekle, Jr., on February 5, 1960 and had a full and beautiful life together until his passing on February 5, 2021.
Elizabeth was a devoted wife and mother. She was a hard worker with a strong work ethic, but always put the needs and well-being of her family first. She drove a school bus until all of her children were grown, worked in the insurance industry for over 20 years, while also managing her husband’s masonry business of 61 years.
Elizabeth loved to laugh and spend time with family, friends and her animals. The beach was her “Happy Place” but she also loved music, dancing, traveling, boating, reading, fishing, enjoying nature and going for walks.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. VanHekle, Jr.; parents, Edward and Eleanor McGinty; in-laws, Carl and Gladys VanHekle, Sr.; brother, Donald McGinty and his wife, “Puddy”; and grandson, Lee VanHekle. She is survived by her daughter, Shari and husband John Jones of Cleburne, Texas; sons, Carl A. VanHekle, III of Delaware and David A. VanHekle of Florida; sister, Sharon DeFrancisco and her partner, James Turner of Florida; brother Edward McGinty and wife, Barbara of Florida; eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
The family has elected to defer services and a “Celebration of Life” will be planned in the future. Condolences may be sent to the family via Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home website.
