Elsie Marie Carlock, 82, died Monday, June 11, 2007 at home in Joshua, TX. Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Visitation: 6-8 p.m.Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery in Joshua, TX. Dr. Rick Davis of Brownwood will officiate. Pallbearers will be Father Richard Collins, Phil Hamill, Bart Collins, Colin Carlock, Sean Carlock, Daniel Patterson and Daan Veeningen. Elsie Marie Hamilton was born October 2, 1924 in Victoria, TX to Charles and Molly Anglin Hamilton. She married Richard Mason Carlock of Joshua, TX on June 4, 1941. Together they farmed the old home place for over 50 years and raised four children.She was a member of the Union Hill Presbyterian Church of Joshua and the Eastern Star.In her younger days, Elsie was a well-known pitcher on several semi-pro champion softball teams. Elsie was a wonderful wife, mother and friend, a gracious hostess who made everyone welcome in her home. Known as "Mimi" to her grandchildren, she still hosted family get-togethers and had many interesting hobbies. She was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, quilting, crafts, reading and travel. Some of her travels included China, Thailand and Hong Kong and several trips toAustralia. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Richard Mason Carlock. Survivors: daughter, Johnnie Marie Collins, and husband, Bill of Burleson; son, Chuck Carlock and wife, Kathy of Fort Worth, daughter, Peggy Simms of Joshua, son, Leon Carlock and wife, Joan of Bloomfield, MI; nine grandchildren: Father Richard Collins, Phil Hamill and wife, Evette, Terry Collins, Bart Collins, Kris Patterson and husband Daniel, Deanna Carlock, Joanna Veeningen and husband Daan, Colin and Sean Carlock; nine great-grandchildren: Mandi, Grace, Jade, Emma, Libby, Clay, Matt, Eva and Ellie and one great-great grandson, Caleb; sisters: Bessie Selman of Hamilton, and Willie Hamilton of Ft. Worth, several nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.
