Elsie Mae Jones passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2005 in Cleburne. She was born November 16, 1908 in Calvert, Texas, to Thomas and Sarah Ross Jackson. She married Emmett Jones on January 18, 1931 in Cleburne.
Mrs. Jones retired as a custodian for the Esquire Theatre in Cleburne and was a member of St. Paul CME Church.
Elsie Mae Jones is survived by son, Rev. Louis Jones and wife Lovie of Cleburne; two daughters, Ilesia Jones Craff and husband Nathaniel of Cleburne and Sarah Williams and husband Willie Dean of Houston; son-in-law, Wilford Clay, Sr., of Houston; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Jackson and Bernice Jackson, both of Houston; thirteen grandchildren, Cherry Clay, Mona Wiley, Felix Valiant, Willie Smith, Carl Smith, Carla Smith, Anthony Williams, Wilford Clay, Jr., Robert Jones, Cheri Craff, Nate Craff, Kevin Williams and Shirley Jackson; nineteen great grandchildren; nieces, Connie Lee and Delois Gooden; nephews, Gene Jackson, Eugene Jackson and Donald Ray Jackson; longtime caregiver, Cynthia Akins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Jones and daughter, Carolyn Clay.
