The world lost a “warrior for peace” on Saturday, July 29, 2023, when Emilio Ray Longoria, 45, passed unexpectedly at Texas Health Cleburne. Emilio was born on February 23, 1978, in Bay City, Texas to Emilio Longoria, Jr. and Helen Longoria. He graduated in 1996 from Victoria High School. He married Laura Dawn Wiginton on March 13, 2013, in Cleburne. Emilio was employed by James Hardie Building Products where he had a countless number of friends, which he considered family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 12, 2023, at The Heights Church in Cleburne, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Longoria, children, Delilah Sierra, Emilio Ray Longoria Jr., and Isabella Longoria, parents, Emilio Longoria, Jr. and Helen Longoria, sister, Elizabeth Mayo (DC), brother, Eric Longoria (Dalia), grandparents, Ray and Martha Rangel, nephews, Elijah and Ivan Longoria, Caleb Mayo, and Jacob Rodriguez, nieces, Bria Brown (Dominic), Emily Mayo, Cynthia Longoria, Mia Perez, and Miranda Rodriguez, great-niece, Camille Brown, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
A devout Christian man, Emilio’s commitment to the teachings of Jesus Christ led his life above all. As an active member of the Heights Church, he was a beacon of light who embodied “love one another.” We will all miss his unwavering words, “I will pray for you.”
Emilio went to all the games he could, always cheering on with support and motivation. His passion could be witnessed by all when he loudly and enthusiastically coached the girls that he loved as much as the sport. He kept secret his prime fishing hole, only sharing it with close family and friends—but was always proud to post pictures of his famous catches for everyone to see.
Emilio truly was a shining light on this Earth. From coaching and coworkers to community, church, family, and friends, so many people have been blessed with a brighter life by knowing him. His larger-than-life presence, infectious positivity, and loud laugh will be remembered by all.
His light now shines down upon us from above, blessing us with the teachings, laughter, and memories we share with him.
Rest in peace, our dear Emilio.
Goodbyes hurt the most when the story was not finished.
