Service for Ernest Doris Vaughan, 74, of Rio Vista will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Phil Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Rio Vista Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jake Vaughan, Byran Popejoy, Zachary Tanner, Curtis Vaughan, Donnie Tanner and Mike Popejoy. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home.
Ernest Doris Vaughan passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017 in Cleburne. He was born Oct. 27, 1942 in the community of North Prairie in Falls County, TX to Marvin Lee and Sarah Theresa Elizabeth Lehman Vaughan.
Ernest was a longtime resident of Rio Vista. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of animals. You could always find him at the river, catching a fish or shooting a squirrel. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his daughters, Carla Popejoy and husband Mike, Carrie Tanner and husband Donnie, all of Cleburne; son, Curtis Vaughan and wife Toscha of Grandview; grandchildren, Byran Popejoy, Kristy Todd, Zachary Tanner, Tara Tanner, Tiffany Tanner, Jake Vaughan and Tamara Koetting; great grandchildren, Loralie Popejoy, Dylan Benton, Breanna and Ashley Todd, Addalynn, Ember, Lilith and Brilee Koetting; brother, Valice Lee Vaughan of Dallas; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Clay Sherrod Vaughan; and a brother, Eugene “Red” Daniel Vaughan.
