Ervy Lee Poynter

Services for Ervy Lee Poynter, 81, of Alvarado, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 19, 2024, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel with Pastor Bubba Mills officiating. Interment at 11:30 A.M. in Venus Memorial Park. A time of visitation will take place for family and friends from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M., on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are Josh Thomason, Kevin Poynter, Adrian Richardson, Terry Richardson, Tommy Gregory, and Roger Richardson. Honorary pallbearers are James Gregory, Spencer Richardson, and Jonathan Grafton.

Ervy passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024. Born on October 18, 1942, in Dallas, he was the son of Ervy V. Poynter and Julia Marguerite (Parker) Poynter. Ervy was a valued member of the Willow Springs Baptist Church in Alvarado, where his strong faith guided him throughout his life. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and dedicated 40 years to his career as an electrical technician. On January 15, 1966, Ervy married Sharon Ruth Richardson in Venus, Texas. Their marriage lasted 58 years, during which they built a loving family. Ervy had many passions, including woodworking, fishing, gardening, and music. He also enjoyed reading and had a particular fondness for trains and the Dallas Cowboys. Ervy's legacy of love and devotion will be cherished by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Sharon; son, Kevin Lee Poynter and his wife Lisa; daughter, Karla Denise Stephens; sister, Margaret Ann Grose; grandchildren, Kayla Breann Grafton and her husband Josh, Jason Dermont Grafton, and Jonathan Lee Grafton; and great-grandchild Tessa Franz. Additionally, he is remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his beloved pets, dogs, Max and Quinn, as well as cat, Nala.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervy V. and Julia Marguerite Poynter.
