Services for Esther Virginia Matlack, 103, formerly of Cleburne, will be conducted Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 2:00 P.M., in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Reverend Charles Payne and Dr. Charlie Bing will officiate. Following the service, burial will take place in Bono Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Esther Matlack passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 in Crowley. She was born in Dallas, Texas on April 30, 1917 to George Robertson and Marie Esther (Weeman) Bellville. She graduated from Highland Park High School and attended Texas Women’s University. Esther married Robert Harrison Matlack on July 25, 1942 in Dallas. She worked as a secretary for First National Bank with 17 years of service, was an office manager for Taylor Insurance for many years and was also the secretary for Cleburne Bible Church for a number of years. Mrs. Matlack was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Virginia Leigh Hair and husband, Rick of Austin, Texas; son, Robert H. Matlack, Jr. and wife Verna of Crowley, Texas; grandchildren, Shelly Chapman and husband, David of Austin, Texas; Chris Hair and wife, Amanda of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Robert Matlack and wife, Leilani of Benbrook, Texas; Nathan Matlack of Lorena,Texas; Jonathan Matlack and wife, Judy of Mililani, Hawaii; Joshua Matlack and wife, Kate of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Ruth Burgher and husband, Nick of Springfield, Missouri; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Esther in death were her husband, Robert Matlack, Sr. on July 11, 2007; brothers, George Bellville, Jr. and Roy Bellville; and great-grandson, Harrison Burgher.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Kings Daughters or Meals on Wheels.
