Service for Eugene William Taves, Sr.,78, of Midlothian, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 5, 2019, in The Heights Church. Pastor Kody Hughes will officiate. Burial will follow at 11:15 in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Eugene William Taves, Sr. passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019 in Midlothian. He was born June 26, 1941 in Casselton, North Dakota to Harry Lawrence and Pansy Garlene (Chapelow) Taves. He married Sharon Kay Pitcher on October 24, 1965 in Wadena, Minnesota. Eugene was a franchise owner of Golden Chick and Heffs. He was a member of Heights Church and Eastland Kingdom Builders Fellowship. Eugene served in the U.S. Army and was stationed overseas in Germany for four years. He was a devoted Christian, a great father and grandfather. Eugene was a hardworking man and great provider for his family. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh. He always helped his children when they needed him above and beyond. Eugene was everyone’s friend and always helped them too.
Eugene is survived by, sons Eugene William Taves, Jr., Paul Dean Taves and wife Sherry, Matthew Taves and wife Amber; daughter, Kimberly Faye van Assendelft and husband Hidde; grandchildren, Tyson Lee Taves and wife Courtney, Mickayla Diann Mitchell and husband Zachery, Kayleen Diane Taves, Kelsie Ann Taves, DeAnna Nicole Hawk and husband Mike, Jennifer Danielle Moser, Andrew Josiah Moser, Erik Andrew van Assendelft, Kelly Elise van Assendelft, Haley Alyssa Threadgill, Noah Matthew Taves, Gracie Kaye Taves, Kassidy Renee Taves; great grandchildren Sawyer Scott Mitchell, Adalynn Mae Mitchell, Layla Rhiannon Brandt; stepson, Roger Eugene Williams, Jr. and wife Kayla; step daughter, Aysha Marie Blacknall and husband Ryan; step grandchildren, Wyatt Wayne Williams, Weston Wade Williams, Sophia Marie Blacknall, Olivia Elizabeth Blacknall, Gabrielle Simone Blacknall; brothers Leland Taves and wife Carla, Harry Taves and wife Judy; sister Darlene Krein and husband Jim, Dorcas Maris and husband Terry; brother in law, Al Dissmore and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Eugene is preceded in death by his wife Sharon Kay Taves, parents and sister Deborah Dissmore.
