Evelyn Steelhammer

Graveside service for Evelyn Steelhammer, 96, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, in Greenacres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10-11:30 a.m. Friday, before the service.
Mrs. Steelhammer passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, in Cleburne. She was born Sept. 14, 1916, in Brady. She married Ernest Ray Steelhammer on June 1, 1934, in Brady.
Mrs. Steelhammer was a retired bookkeeper, working at Howells Clothing Store for 25 years and Walls Manufacturing Company for 15 years. She enjoyed spending time in the garden. She was multi-talented as a musician and artist both. Evelyn was devoted to her Lord and her church, having taught Sunday school for over 50 years. She was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star for over 50 years, having served as treasurer as well. Evelyn will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest Ray Steelhammer; sons, Carroll Don Steelhammer and Darrell Ray Steelhammer; and siblings, Ethelyne, James and Marie.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Patricia Steelhammer and husband, Jerry Richardson; grandson, Adam Corey Steelhammer and wife, Steffanie; great-grandsons, Tober Rafe Steelhammer and Darby Tor Steelhammer; sister, Dorothy Plourde; niece, Beverly Johnson and husband, Dan; and a host of other relatives and friends.
