A Celebration of Life for Faye Clay, 85, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 09, 2022, at St. Paul C.M.E. 507 Royal St., Cleburne, Texas. The Reverend Patricia McWilliams will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitations will be Friday, April 8, 2022, from 9:00-5:00 P.M., at the funeral home, and Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 10-11:00 A.M., at St. Paul CME Church, prior to the service.
Faye Holloway Clay was born on November 26, 1936, in Bosque County to Arbra and Bertha Mozelle (Pollard) Holloway. She married James Edward “Brownie” Clay on November 26, 1961, in Morgan. Faye retired with over 25 years of service as a seamstress/supervisor for Walls Industries. After retiring, she worked for over 15 years for Cleburne ISD.
Faye was a lady in control. She kept things going and done right. She was a faithful and hard-working member of St. Paul C.M.E. for over 60 years; serving in all ways at her beloved church, which included past President and member of the Missionary Board, Superintendent of the Sunday School and Choir and was the church Secretary. Faye’s outgoing nature and giving heart led her to volunteer throughout the community including, alongside other churches. Her family were all greatly loved and at the center of her world. Faye could light up any room she entered with her smile and her voice that caught your attention. She will be greatly missed.
Faye is survived by her daughters, Melba Clay and Sharell Clay; grandchildren, Causha Jones, Tyrone Nunn and Cynthia Clay-Hawkins; step-children, Ricky Warren and Reverend Johnnie Warren and spouse, Gloria; great-grandchildren, Tyrin Jones, Kavyon Nunn, Paisley Nunn, Tremayne Fuller and Aubryell Clay-Hawkins; great-great-grandson, Paxton Fuller; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, James “Brownie” Clay; her children, Patricia Evans and Michael Clay; daughter-in-law, Phala Clay; parents; Arbra and Bertha Holloway; sisters, Bertha Hunter, Gladys Davenport, Vera Ward and Lorene Scott.
