A Celebration of Life for Fina Mae Glenn Graves, of Garland, will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Westhill Church of Christ in Cleburne.
Fina Graves was an amazing woman for all the 100+ years of her journey on this planet. She was many things; a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loyal friend to many. She returned to God peacefully on August 5, 2023.
Fina was born on September 13, 1922, in Godley, Texas to Finis M. Glenn and Willie Mae McKinney Glenn. She graduated as Valedictorian of her high school in Godley, a testament to her intelligence and dedication to learning, but she excelled in tennis as well. She was crowned “Queen of Johnson County” later in 1940 and her kind of natural beauty led to some early modeling opportunities. Although she had several scholarships to college, she chose to marry a handsome young man from Joshua, Texas, Charles S. (Dick) Graves. They were married on November 17, 1940, and moved to Dallas to start their lives together. It was here they raised their two children while settling into life as a family. They were married almost 55 years. They moved from Dallas to Rockwall, Texas for about a decade until retirement took them back to their roots in Johnson County to live in Cleburne, Texas. Fina always said the two most important things in her life were faith and family. She lived that out as a faithful member of the Shamrock Shores Church of Christ in Dallas, Rockwall Church of Christ in Rockwall and later the Westhill Church of Christ in Cleburne.
Fina is preceded in death by her husband, Dick; her parents, Finis and Willie Mae Glenn; 3 brothers, Raymond Glenn, Carl Glenn, and Leonard Glenn; and grandson, JJ Freeland.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Dr. Glenn R. Graves and wife, Jeanne of Austin, Texas, and Diane W. Dishman and husband, George of Dallas, Texas as well as 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
