Floyd Julian Davis, 82, passed away Friday, November 30, 2007 in Keene.
The family will receive visitors from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon at the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M., Monday in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne chapel. Interment will be at Venus Cemetery in Venus.
Pallbearers will be TXI co-workers and friends, Johnny Wadsworth and James York, grandsons Todd Floyd Davis, Lucas Nolan Mackey, Robert Alexander "Alex" Butler, grandson-in-law David Shiflet, and great grandson J. Michael Shiflet.
Floyd Julian Davis was born February, 7, 1925 in Grandview, to Floyd Raymond Davis and Cleatus Mae Basham Davis. Julian attended several schools before settling on the farm his parents purchased west of Venus. He graduated from Venus High School in 1942 and attended North Texas State University in Denton until he joined the Naval Air Corp where he earned his wings. Later he joined the Merchant Marines, serving until his discharge.
On June 25, 1947 he married Billie Reine Goad. Their love and devotion spanned sixty years of marriage. They had three children.
Julian worked for the MKT Railroad for sixteen years and then worked for TXI for twenty-six years. After retiring from TXI in 1989 he purchased the family farm and farmed the land until May 2006. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Venus.
Julian is survived by his wife, Billie of Venus; his son Julian Lynn Davis and wife, Lena, of Hillsboro; daughters, Ellen Sue "Susie" Mackey and husband Nolan of Cleburne and Sherri Lee Appleton and husband Ricky of Venus; grandchildren Gina Lynn Shiflet and husband David of Conroe, Todd Floyd Davis of Hillsboro, Lucas Nolan Mackey of Cleburne, Amber Nicole Robinson of Arlington, Robert Alexander "Alex" Butler of Venus, great grandchildren, Emily Jordan Shiflet and J. Michael Shiflet of Conroe and Julian Blake Robinson of Arlington; sister, Marilyn Davis Cartwright and husband Jerry of Cleburne; niece, Lori Moore Smith and husband Roger of Baltimore, Maryland and their three daughters and two sons; one brother-in-law, James C. Goad and wife, Lyla of Ft. Worth and one sister-in-law, Berta Faye Goad Patterson and husband, Roy of Mansfield.
