Services for Forest E. Wallace, 88, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow in the Greenacres Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org .
Mr. Wallace passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2011 in Cleburne. He was born to Charlie Bradford and Rachel Della Sellers Wallace on October 28, 1922 in Hext, Texas. Forest served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific, where he was recognized for using whatever he had available in the field to make needed parts. He married the love of his life, Wilma Baker on January 25, 1943 in Waco. They shared a wonderful life and an inspirational marriage for over 47 years at the time of her passing in 1990. Forest worked as an upholster in his younger years, owning The Trim Shop; where he worked on car upholstery. He retired from Johns Manville with over 30 years service in 1989. Some of the tools used in the company were invented by him. He could do anything and loved to tinker. He enjoyed working with his hands, creating and building everything imaginable from his home and furniture to model airplanes and bird houses. Forest enjoyed gardening and was an animal lover. He often took in wild animals and raised them if he found them in need in nature. Forest was a member of Westside Church of Christ. His love of laughter and giving spirit will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Forest is preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, Alex Langlee; brother, O.V. Wallace; and sister, Frankie Jackson.
Survivors include his daughters, Susan Pollock and her husband, Ronnie, and Sharley Langlee and her husband, Donny; grandchildren, Rhonda Pollock, Ronald Brad Pollock and his wife, Amy, and Nick Langlee; great grandchildren, Josh, Drake, Thomas, Austin, Liam, Austin, Samantha, and Douglas; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
