Service for Frank H. Bowles, Jr., 83, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 22, 2011 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Wayne Shuffield will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Friday.
Mr. Bowles passed away Monday, October 17, 2011 in Cleburne. He was born December 20, 1927 in Auburn, near Grandview, to Frank H. and Eula Vaye Tatum Bowles. He married Charlotte M. Jones on September 28, 1948 in Hamilton.
Mr. Bowles served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy on board the U.S.S. Witek, where he was a plank owner. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailors. He was retired from the Santa Fe Railroad with more than 43 years service, serving as a machinist apprentice, machinist apprentice instructor, foreman and general foreman. He was a former District Vice President of the Santa Fe Supervisors Association and a former Vice President of the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railroad Employees. He loved traveling, playing dominoes and telling jokes and stories. He was a member and former deacon of the North Cleburne Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Charlotte Bowles; daughter, Beverly Kay Pearcy and husband Mike, all of Cleburne; son, Kenneth David Bowles and wife Debra of Longwood, Florida; grandson, Matthew Pearcy and wife Erin of Arlington; granddaughters, Hannah Bowles of Statesboro, Georgia and Mackenna Bowles of Winter Park, Florida; one sister, Edith Faye Johnson of Burnet; sisters-in-law, Sondra Jones, Janie Jones and Barbara Jones; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and one sister, Mary Frances Holcomb.
