Service for F.W. Gillaspie, 91, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Chaplain Eddy Carrell will officiate. Burial will follow in Prices Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M., Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be David Hackler, Jimmy Grubbs, Justin Gillaspie, Milton Williams, Keith Jones, Ronnie Bonham, and Kevin Gist.
F.W. passed away Friday, January 21, 2022, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born November 3, 1930, in Corsicana, Texas to Floyd Montgomery and Katherine Merriet Gillaspie.
He married Evelyn Gibbs on August 18, 1955, in Cleburne. He was a member of Sand Flat Baptist Church. F.W. served in the United States Army Reserve and worked for Santa Fe Railroad with 27 years of service. Floyd loved to hunt and fish. He taught his boys at a young age how to hunt and fish. He hunted until he was in his late eighties. He also loved Trade Fair with Jimmy Akins; he was a regular on the show. He was quite the wheeler-dealer! He loved to buy and sale, he wasn’t attached to anything!! Floyd loved to visit with his son Travis at his lawnmower shop. He was always ready to visit and help with problems! He always had an opinion! He loved to cook and loved for you to eat it! He loved playing dominoes, forty-two was his favorite. He was ready to take on anybody at any time!! He was a Christian man of the Baptist faith. He was ordained to preach in 1971. He loved the Lord, and he loved his family and friends. He will be missed so much! Go rest high on that mountain!
F.W. is survived by his son, Travis Gillaspie and wife, Teresa of Joshua; grandchildren, Justin Gillaspie and wife, Ariel of Cleburne, Taylor Gillaspie and wife, Jess of Rogers, Arkansas, Heather Phillips and husband, Daniel of Cleburne; great-grandchildren, Samantha Gillaspie, Braden Gillaspie, Olivia Gillaspie, Justin Gillaspie, Jr., Kylie Gillaspie, Daxton Phillips, and McKena Phillips.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn who passed on January 14, 1977; and son, Chester David Gillaspie who passed in 2016.
