Visitation for Gabriel Serrano Valdez, Jr, 53, will be held at Crosier-Pearson-Cleburne Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 25, 2009.
Gabriel Serrano Valdez, Jr., longtime resident of Del Rio, recently moved to Cleburne, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 in Fort Worth. He was born to the late, Gabriel, Sr. and Lucy (Luz) Maria Serrano Valdez on January 25, 1956 in Buda, Texas. He married Maria Guadalupe Casas on May 21, 1978 in Del Rio. Gabriel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Del Rio. He worked as a contractor for numerous years, specializing in carpenter, electrician, and various trades. It has been said that he could do anything. He enjoyed farming. Gabriel was a kind man with a giving heart, helping others in any way he could. Grandpa, as his grandchildren called him, was like a second father to many people. He was known for his cooking. Gabriel's giving nature and loving spirit will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maria on February 13, 2009; and two sisters, Dolores Valdez and Katherine Valdez Govea.
Survivors include his children, Lucy Valdez Gonzalez and her husband, Justino and Mark Anthony Valdez; grandchildren, Alexa Amor, Brisa Kira, and Anthony Gael Gonzalez; sister, Margaret Valdez; brother, Gabriel Valdez; and a host of other relatives and friends.
